MDD is designed to raise awareness of media democracy, and to provide a networking opportunity for the local alternative media community, interested activists, and academics. MDD Ottawa is co-sponsored by the Ottawa Multicultural Media Initiative, the Diversity and Equity Research Group (DERG), the University of Ottawa’s School of Information Studies, and and Carelton University’s School of Journalism and Communication . MDD 2013 is an English conference, but we hope to include French speakers as the event grows.
Parking and Transportation
There are several locations to park both on and off campus. Here is more information concerning campus parking. The University of Ottawa is easily accessible by via public transportation as it is attached to two OC transpo bus terminals: Campus Station and Laurier Station.
The Ottawa Multicultural Media Initiative
The OMMI is an innovative research initiative undertaken by the University of Ottawa in partnership with the City of Ottawa, and in collaboration with an extensive network of media producers, consumers, and scholars.
The initiative, a first in Ottawa, aims to improve our collective knowledge of media consumption and production in the Ottawa Chinese, Latin American, Somali, and South Asian communities. Visit OMMI on Facebook and Twitter.
